This days  flash and Memory cards are the most used devices to transfer data such as movies , songs , documents etc but often storage devices are infected by shortcut virus. If you connect your infected flash to your system it will show files and folders having shortcuts. And in case you open the shortcut file or folder it would infect your whole system badly.

2. Using CMD

Method 1:

This is the easiest method of removing shortcut virus from flash, phones and memory cards, all you need to do is just to download it, follow the instructions below:

==> visit this site and download smadav antivirus www.smadav.net

==> install it and restart your computer.

now insert the affected flash drive or hard disk, the software will scan it and ask you to fix it. click the fix button. smadav antivirus also act like USB disk security that scan any USB device you plug to the computer

==> it will open a window after scanning, now tick the list of files you wish to fix or you can just click on fix all button, it will do it's job and bring out another window, still click fix button and you are done.

==> open the affected file, you will see the magic. The corrupted files will be up and running. 2nd method

Step 1: Connect your flash or memory card.

Step 2: Open command prompt. To open command prompt press windows button + R . Enter the command cmd in Run and press enter to open command prompt.

Step 3: Go to My computer and check out your flash letter.

Step 4:To  remove shortcut virus from pendrive type attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.* in the Command prompt. Don’t forget to replace the g with your flash or memory card letter

Step 5: Press Enter button.

Step 6: Go back to your flash or memory card. You would see both your original files and shortcut files. Delete all the shortcut and unknown files and copy your original files and folders to another drive.

Step 7: Lastly, format the flash or Memory card. You have successfully remove shortcut virus from pendrive and recovered the infected files in the flash.

Tips to protect your flash from Virus.

Keep your system up to date with the latest antivirus.

Update your antivirus program at regular intervals.

Do not ever open the shortcut or virus file with the extension filename.lnk . it could badly harm your computer and could infect your other removable devices too.

Before opening any removable drive ( flash or SD card ) perform a deep scan of the removable drive.
